Boundary condenser microphone. This microphone is useful when placed on a large, flat surface such as a floor, wall or table, as it captures sound reflected from that surface without phase interference between the direct sound and the sound reflected from various other surfaces in the room. It's bad if people tap on the table. It requires phantom power.
